Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer
The Avon
“Walk around the World for Breast Cancer”
was celebrated in Lima with a walk/run “Connection for Life” on Sunday, October 26
th
. Thousands of participants filled the streets in San Borja as they walked in support of the breast cancer cause. Among those in attendance at the walk were local artists and popular athletes who called upon participants to continue to spread the message of the importance of early detection. “Walk around the World” events are linked by the Global Connection Ribbon, which is the symbolic emotional component that connects breast cancer survivors and participants across the world. The ribbon is a powerful symbol of the connection to each other and shared determination to turn every diagnosis into a story of survival. Sisters Betty, Doris, Edith, Elizabeth, Judith, Kathlyn, and Patty, were among the many women who participated in the 5 kilometer – walk.
